Actress Demi Moore posted a picture of herself on Twitter the other day from a photo shoot she did recently. Moore is a very popular and heavily followed Tweeter and often shares details about her life and work on the micro blogging site. Surprisingly she got into a not so pleasant exchange with followers about looking old in the photo.
Immediately one follower said, “sorrydemi that your self esteem is so low you can't admit to a little Photoshopping,†then another took that as an opening to say, "And Ghost sucked." Moore then retorted “Thank youâ€
A while later another follower chimed in with "sorry but you look old. specially your neck & cheecks at the second shot.." Which prompted Moore to come back with "I'm 47 how am I supposed to look?"
Which begs the question what is one supposed to look like at 47 years old? Moore who began her career on ABC’s General Hospital as Jackie Templeton girl reporter in 1982 has been nominated for an Emmy, two Golden Globe awards, has long be thought of as a Hollywood beauty but when are women in Hollywood going to be allowed to look their age? Moore it seems is being held to an impossible beauty standard by some of her Twitter followers if they expect her to never age and look exactly as she did when she started her career in acting. If this little exchange on Twitter is any indication then attitudes may not be changing anytime soon. When a 47 year old, by any standards beautiful women is attacked and insulted on a micro blogging site because she had the nerve to age like a normal human being, then what hope is there for the normal women of the world?
Slim to none.
