In keeping with the depressing celeb news stories of the holiday season, TMZ is now reporting that James Cameron is an a-hole. That's just great. What was interesting is the other day I saw him interviewed on The Bonnie Hunt Show, and he seemed pretty down-to-earth for a director who just directed the monster-hit Avatar, which has grossed about a bazillion dollars since it's recent opening. Yes, I do believe a bazillion dollars is correct. What I didn't know until I saw the interview was that Cameron was actually just a blue collar guy, working as a janitor and then a trucker, before deciding to try his hand at movies. Talk about a pick-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps type story.Â
Of course, TMZ had to ruin it for me by posting the video in this article. As the site notes:
It all went down at LAX -- when James walked past a man holding an "Avatar" poster, and refused to sign. The man went back to Cameron and asked again to which James replied, "I don't owe you a f**king signature ... just get out of my f**king personal space."
That's when the fan lost it and replied, "I'm an asshole because I ask someone I admire for their autograph that makes me an a**hole? I make $15-an-hour at work to go see your film and I'm an a**hole?"
Ultimately, James calmly walked away from the situation while the fan continued to yell at him.
Merry Effing Christmas to you too, James. I mean, I understand wanting your privacy, but the guy made a good point. Just sign the damn poster next time, mmmmkay? Then you can go home and hug your money.

Has anyone seen Avatar? I haven't yet. I hope there aren't a ton of subtitles. Come-on!
