Actor Rip Torn Arrested for Bank Robbery

Actor Rip Torn, born Feb. 6, 1931, was arrested for robbing a bank in Connecticut while intoxicated and carrying a loaded gun.  Rip Torn has had many problems with alcohol, and as been arrested before due to intoxication, but now, he went federal with bank robbery.  He is best known for his best supporting actor emmy for his role in "Cross Creek" in 1983, and his role in "Men in Black."  He has a long career as an actor of stage and screen. 

His bank robbery charge in Salisbury, Conn. has him arrested and in jail on $100,000 bond and he is scheduled to see the judge, Monday.

I think we won't be seeing much of Rip Torn on the Silver screen, sounds like he will be behind silver bars. I can't see him getting out of this one very easily, even if he was drunk as a skunk. He is lucky he wasn't shot and killed during the bank robbery. I feel sad for him but sadder for the people in the bank that had hisgun in their faces that have to live with the memory of the incident in not knowing if they would be shot and killed. I'm glad it wasn't more of a disaster.

I've seen him in movies for years and never heard he had an alcohol problem. Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to see him in any movies in the near future.
