Florence Henderson and Styx in the headlines are a blast from the past. I remember coming home from school to watch Florence Henderson mother over the Brady Bunch. When I got older, my taste changed to closing my bedroom door and blaring Styx from my boom box.
The Long Island Press reported Florence Henderson might be writing her memoirs. This morning Florence Henderson appeared on the CBS Morning Show. A Utah publisher indicated Florence Henderson could be writing a book.
According to Rolf Zetterstein, "Watching a CBS profile of our new author Florence Henderson. We’ll publish her memoir next year. She was America’s mom, Carol Brady.â€
After outgrowing America's mom Florence Henderson, I got a boom box and moved on to rock bands like Styx and REO Speedwagon. Styx band formed in the early 1970s and sang classics such as "Babe", "Lady" and "Fooling Yourself." Styx is touring in the "Can't Stop Rockin' Tour" with with REO Speedwagon.Â
The Styx lineup in Toledo included Gowan, Tommy Shaw, Todd Sucherman on drums, Ricky Phillips on bass and guitar and James Young on guitar. Lawrence Gowan is with Styx for 11 years. Gowan replaced keyboardist/singer Dennis DeYoung when he was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr Syndrome.
Here is a YouTube clip of Florence Henderson and the famous Brady Bunch Opening Theme and Styx "Renegade", one of my favorites:Â
