Oscar predictions 2010 Best picture, actor, actress - 82nd Oscars winners?

With the 82nd annual Oscar awards show set to air tonight at 8PM EST on ABC many movie fans are wondering who the big winners will be.  Various critics and writers have made their Oscar predictions for 2010 for the categories of Best Picture, Best Actor, Actress and more.  Here's some of those who are leading the way and a look at who legendary film critic Roger Ebert chose, back in January 2010.

For Best Actor, many are picking Jeff Bridges to finally win an Oscar Award.  Bridges played a country-western singer in "Crazy Heart" who meets a female reporter and starts a relationship to find himself.  Bridges has had several nominations in the past but never the big win on Oscar night.  This could be his night.  He'll face George Clooney, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman and Jeremy Renner, all of whom turned in strong movie performances this past year.  Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times has selected Jeff Bridges as the winner.

For Best Actress, Ebert has selected Sandra Bullock for her work in "The Blind Side".  Ebert contends that Meryl Streep was originally in the lead for the award, but has won twice with 15 nominations.  Bullock should win the award here.

Ebert has also predicted that Mo'Nique will win Best Supporting actress for her role in "Precious".  In the film, the usually comedic actress turned in a performance as Mary Lee Johnston, the dysfunctional mother of the 16-year old title character, Claireece Precious Jones.  Christoph Waltz is the favorite for Support Actor for his role in "Inglorious Basterds" as the sinister Nazi leader, Colonel Hans Landa.

The Best Picture winner is always highlight of the night, and for the Oscar predictions many are choosing "The Hurt Locker", an almost documentary-style look at a US bomb squad.  It'll be in competition with nine other films though: Avatar, An Education, A Serious Man, The Blind Side, District 9, Inglorious Basterds, Up, and Up in the Air.
