In October 2008 Nomvuyo Mzamane filed a lawsuit against talk show host Oprah Winfrey for defamation. The lawsuit was filed in response to defamatory remarks made by Winfrey. In October 2007 Winfrey accused Mzamane of being nontrustworthy after a sex abuse scandal that occurred at Oprah's Leadership Academy for Girls in Johannesburg.
On Monday in front of Judge Eduardo, Winfrey lawyer's argued that her comments were nothing but her voicing her opinion follwing the sex abuse scandal and requested for dismissal. Unfortunately, the judge denied the request and agreed that Winfrey's comments were indeed defamatory and Oprah is now going to trial on March 29th in Philadelphia.
