NBC premiered a new game show last month, hosted by Food Network star Guy Fieri, that, despite high-brow criticism, is catching on with low-attention-span folks (meaning most of us) who love to play along at home.
Called "Minute to Win It" the hilarious premise is aimed at people who love silly games which can be performed with common household items - and an egg timer. The limit is 60 seconds for any task, with a chance to advance to a guaranteed $50,00 prize - if you don't use up all 3 of your allotted lives.
Any player who outlasts the ultimate timer has a shot at a million bucks... so far unrewarded. But it's only a matter of time until somebody breaks the bank, because, unlike most game shows, contestants can practice their skills at home.
In fact, an entire cottage industry has sprung up on the web showcasing actual clips from the program and showing us how we can hone the skills necessary to beat the clock.
It may be the first time in history where the host of a studio TV show reminds us to "Please. Try this at home."
