Charlie Sheen, Brooke Mueller Divorcing

After much speculation about the couple's status following Sheen's Christmas attack on his wife in Colorado, it appears Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller are heading to divorce.

Both have retained counsel for what appears to be an imminent split.  Sheen has retained Lori Howe, while Mueller has selected Mark Gross.  It is thought that the couple have already begun the process of having counsel prepare paperwork.

Officially, however, the couple is still trying to piece the marriage back together.  Sheen has spent time recently in a sex addication rehab facility.  Both sides are reported to only want things in place for a quick ending should the reconciliation fail.

Sheen, meanwhile, has been working on reaching a new deal with CBS to return for another season of 'Two and a Half Men'.  Most industry insiders believe the deal will come, perhaps when the divorce and Sheen's criminal matters are cleared up.

As for Sheen's felony menacing and misdemeanor assault charges in relation to Mueller, his criminal attorneys are working feverishly to wrap those up and strike a deal prior to CBS' announcement of their fall schedule on May 19.
