Matt Lauer’s ex-wife Nancy Alspaugh is not surprised that he and Annette Rocque are on their way to divorce court. According to Nancy, this is behavior that broke them apart and behavior which Matt seems to partake in no matter who he is married to. Clearly, some people have issues with infidelity. Matt certainly does.
Nancy and Matt were together from 1982 to 1989, when she was a high powered television producer.(I remember Matt Lauer from a local TV show in Providence, Rhode Island, so he does come from humble career beginnings). The couple did not have any children. But Matt exhibited a wandering eye and he and Nancy were kaput.
Nancy is now interested in educating people on Autism awareness--she started a movement called Fearless Aging. The Fearless Aging movement was implemented when Nancy and friend Marilyn Kentz wrote a book called Not Your Mother’s Midlife: A Ten Step Guide to Fearless Aging. Alspaugh is currently married to Read Jacobson, who is an executive at Fox Television. The couple have a six year old son Wyatt who has Autism. Nancy began the annual Denim and Diamonds for Autism fundraiser to benefit ACT Today, of which she is the director. In the last two years over $200,000 has been raised for needy families who have Autistic children. Clearly, she got over Matt and moved on, becoming a necessary advocate for her young son.
Is this a famous-man disease or a fatal flaw in most men's characters? Why get married if you're just going to ruin it by cheating? Guess the third time wasn't a charm for Matt . . . we could have just asked Nancy about it years ago, I suppose!
