Megan Fox Cut From Transformers 3?
Director Michael Bay To Give Shia LaBeouf New Girlfriend
After someone leaked photos of her naked during a movie shoot for "Passion Play" to getting nixed from Director Michael Bay's upcoming "Transformers 3" movie, it is safe to say this has been an awful week for actress Megan Fox.
On Wednesday, multiple reports hit the Web that Fox was dropped from the third installment of the "Transformers" franchise after appearing as Mikaela Banes, the girlfriend of Shia LaBeouf's character, Sam Witwicky, in the first two films. A representative from Paramount Studios confirmed to MTV News that the studio didn't renew Fox's option.
However, the 24-year-old starlet claims that she wasn't nixed by the studio, but rather declined to do "Transformers 3," which is to begin filming this summer and be released in July 2011.
"Megan Fox will not be starring in 'Transformers 3,' " reps for Fox told People magazine. "It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best."
This really does not come as a major shocker to those familiar with the previous two films, as Bay and Fox were constantly delivering verbal blows to one another shortly before the much-anticipated release of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
At one point, Fox compared Bay, who is infamously known for producing high-budget explosive action films with poor dialogue, to Hitler. Meanwhile, Bay has said that Fox "still has a lot of growing up to do," MTV reports.
On Bay's website a couple months ago, it appeared things would go off without a hitch and the core humans in the "Transformers" franchise would be back, but apparently things changed suddenly this week.
LaBeouf reportedly will have a "new love interest (because that) makes more sense for the story," an unnamed source told Deadline.com.
While I'm not the biggest Bay fan, I don't think losing Fox is that big of a deal because, really, all she was was eye candy for the moviegoer and nothing more. I highly doubt we will see any Oscar-worthy performances from Fox in the near future, as she doesn't strike me as the type of actress who can carry a film on her back. Pose on her back? Oh, of course. But that's all. Let's hope the writers can actually put together a script that is captivating and doesn't have plot holes so big you could drive an Optimus Prime-size truck through as was clearly the case in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
As for the diehard Fox fans out there, don't worry: you can see her back on the big-screen June 18 in "Jonah Hex," which features Will Arnett, Josh Brolin and newly-added "Transformers 3" actor John Malkovich.
