There has been another death: Golden Girl star, actress Rue McClanahan died Thursday morning in Los Angeles, Ca. at the age of 76. According to McClanahan's manager, the cause of her death was a “massive stroke" which she suffered on Monday. Her passing has filled many with sadness but her remembrance brings joy. Now there's only Betty White, the last Golden Girl.
McClanahan's representative said, "Rue passed away at 1 a.m. this morning. She had a stroke on Monday, she was still in the hospital where she had been
for quite some time. Last week, she told her long time publicist she was ready to go back to work. She was doing great. She didn't feel well on Monday."
This was the second stroke suffered by McClanahan who had suffered from a minor one earlier this year in January following her 2009 heart bypass surgery. In 1997 Rue survived breast cancer treatment. She was a strong woman.
McClanahan is best known for her role as ultra MILF and sex kitten Blanche Deveraux on television's Golden Girls sitcom. That is how I will remember her: full of life, love, honesty and humor. It is truly a sad day because Rue was such a talented and strong actress. My condolences go out to her family and friends during this time.
