Controversy brews over Oprah's latest publicity stunt, her Your Own Show competition. People could send in video auditions or attend an open casting call to be chosen by Oprah to be the host of their own new television show.
A very popular candidate, Zach Anner, who has cerebral palsy and wants to inspire others with disabilities to travel, had votes that were climbing and climbing, only to come to a screeching halt today, allowing another contestant, Dr. Phyllis, to catch up.
Many people are pointing fingers at Oprah, insisting that she disagrees with the public's choice for winner and that she has somehow fixed the competition to allow Dr. Phyllis to win.
I'm not sure whether or not this is something Oprah might actually do, but it seems awfully suspicious, with Dr. Phyllis seeming like an Oprah "Mini Me", and someone Oprah might have more faith in creating a successful television show.
Comments on Zach's audition video seem to support the accusations:
"I voted for Zach and he didn't get one! WHY?! I think something is wrong with the voting system as my vote did not get counted! WE LOVE YOU ZACH!"
"my votes aren't showing up either : ( but they do whenever i try voting on anyone elses".
What do you think? Did she or didn't she? What can be done for Zach?
