Forget getting engaged via “Kiss Cam†at a sporting event. Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin have trumped that by announcing their engagement on the cover of US Magazine. Levi Johnston’s mother, Sherry, and sister, Mercede, are upset and hurt that Levi did not tell them before the cover came out. The think they should have found before the public did.
I don’t see what the big deal is, really. Families create so much drama around weddings, which are basically unnecessarily showy events that overshadow the fact that two people are entering into a contract that can only be severed through death or divorce. I think that weddings should be more simple, straight forward and somber, given the gravity of the contract. Instead people get all whiny and bridezilla-ish, and family members feel slighted when the other family gets more attention than theirs, etc, etc, etc...
What difference would it make if Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin told their families first? If anything, the fact that they didn’t tell their families first should be some indication of how not close they are to their families. So, hey, mom and sis, why let on that they didn’t tell you? By telling everyone that they didn’t tell you first, aren’t you making yourselves look foolish? Let it go already, folks.

I think Bristol is going to end up getting burned by that kid.
