For those who missed this "breaking news exclusive", Melissa Rycroft won't be doing anymore shimmy shakes for awhile, instead trading in her dancing shoes for diapers and teddy bears.
The "Dancing with the Stars" and "Bachelor" alum is pregnant a short six months after marrying insurance agent Tye Strickland, usmagazine.com reports. Being that it was unplanned, the couple is shocked yet filled with overwhelming amounts of joy and happiness. "It was a shock, we weren't even trying" Rycroft told the gossip magazine.
A day does not go by without word of an engagement, wedding or pregnancy in reference to some "celebrity" type. Although the relevance of these "breaking news exclusives" seems somewhat mundane and not newsworthy at all, especially when involving these reality stars. Of course knowing a bundle of joy is on the way calls for celebration but what is the different if it is little miss reality TV star or little miss nobody across the street? This reality TV trend has got to chill out because, although entertaining, the instant popularity and recognition these stars receive is laughable.
We live in a world where society has become so consumed with the mass media that 15 minutes of fame has brainwashed those to actually care about every tidbit in their lives. In fact, to the point where an unplanned pregnancy takes president over the couple somewhat out there who has been trying to conceive for years. Or just the mere fact that Rycroft is an absolute nobody and to say the least is attractive to the media simply because she was publically dumped on the Bachelor in 2009.
Not to say that it doesn't make sense for society to be absolutely consumed and obsessed by that Hollywood glam, but common, Melissa Rycroft?? I am more of a Miranda Kerr kind of gal.
