Erykah Badu paid a $500 fine for the nude scene in her Window Seat video. Badu shot the video on March 13 in Dealy Plaza, the site in Dallas where John F. Kennedy was assassinated. At the end of the video, Badu took off all of her clothes.
Some called the display a publicity stunt. Others thought it a creative and artistic statement. The law called it a crime, charged Badu with disorderly conduct and public nudity and ordered her to pay a fine and serve six months probation.
Well, Badu fans know that Ms. Badu says she is an artist and is sensitive about her.... She is obviously quite committed to it as well. So committed that she exposed herself (literally and figuratively) for it, faced accusations for it and risked going to jail for it. Now that's commitment! Any artist who is that dedicated to the art and that passionate about expressing herself most likely finds the fine and probation time a small price to pay for freedom.
