Rarely are summer blockbusters horror films, but considering the buzz around "The Last Exorcism", a documentary-style horror flick about the exorcism of an adolescent girl, the genre may have hit the big time.
The film stars Ashley Bell as Nell, a teenage girl who is the subject of an exorcism by an evangelical minister, who agrees to perform the exorcism (his final) for a documentary crew on camera. Â If that doesn't sound frightening enough, Bell is already getting Oscar buzz for her performance, and was said to have researched exorcisms and interview those who have been involved in them in real life for her role. Â She also does all of her own stunts, from voices to slithering on the ground to sudden, jerking motions with her neck. Â Though it might not sound impressive, check out this clip:
While not for the faint of heart or easily terrified, the film looks to be a good one, if you can stomach it.  The Last Exorcism opens in theaters this Friday, August 27, and co-stars Patrick Fabian, Iris Bahr, Louis Herthum, Caleb Landry Jones, Tony Bentley, John Wright Jr., and Shanna Forrestall.
