Playboy has a new feature specifically for the blind. How does Playboy for the blind work? Well, with the help of Suzi Hanks the pages of this infamous magazine is brought to life through her voice.
MSNBC states that an organization called Taping For The Blind, Inc. has an impressive 200 volunteers who spend an hour each week reading the latest edition of Playboy in a soundproof room.
Suzi Hanks is one of their volunteers and her readings are aired to their subscribers. Currently Taping For The Blind, Inc. has roughly 3000 subscribers who receive a specialized radio that picks up their signal.
NewsOxy reports that even though Suzi Hanks doesn't read Playboy from front to back straight through. Hanks does skim around and eventually reads everything and describes the lovely Playmate photos.
Suki Hanks said, "I don't have to try to read it sexy. I just read it, and I'm a woman, and that's pretty much sexy."
TheLedger.com reported that one of the blind subscribers, Bob Bartlett, 67, who was a devoted Playboy reader became a subscriber of Taping For The Blind, Inc. after he became blind in 1981.
Bartlett said of Hanks, "I listen to her every chance. It really is one of my favorite shows. Some people say it's filth. It's not. She helps me be current in pop culture."
Taping For The Blind, Inc. is a nonprofit group which gives it's service free to it's subscribers. Playboy is just one of dozens of different things read by the group's volunteers.
Playboy for the blind is a truly amazing service. In fact, this entire service being provided by those at Taping For The Blind is amazing. Whenever possible, there will always be those people will choose to help people less fortunate. Just reading to the blind is something that may sound insignificant but the subscribers must really appreciate it.
