Let's say you're a talked-about young billionaire who runs a controversial though wildly popular company. Then let's say a not-so-flattering movie comes out about you, about the possibly shady way in which you got control of your company from early collaborators, and most importantly about your basic lack of human emotion. How do you combat the bad press? You could try revealing photos of your girlfriend.
Mark Zuckerberg, 26-year-old CEO and founder of Facebook, is all over the news today, but not for another change to Facebook's privacy policy. This time, everyone's buzzing about photos revealing a face to go with the name Priscilla Chan--his long-rumored girlfriend. According to News Post Online, Zuckerberg uploaded the pictures to (where else?) his Facebook account, an account which, according to the new David Fincher film, The Social Network, has been as bare of personal details as some say Zuckerberg is of personality and feelings.
According to the nearly unreadable Today 24 News (apologies for this site; reports right now are limited), the pair met when Zuckerberg was attending Harvard University, where she was studying medicine. This makes their relationship at least seven years old.
So what does this tell us about Zuckerberg? Not much. The portrayal of the tycoon in Fincher's film is harsh, to be sure, suggesting he's a cold, manipulative cipher with more talent for betrayal than business or technology. The fact that he has a girlfriend doesn't necessarily contradict this. After all, Charles Manson had a girlfriend.
