Comic George Lopez has ended his marriage with wife, Ann Lopez (Nee Serrano) after 17 long years of matrimony. Â Unnamed sources report that the Lopez's have been hard at work on finalizing the details of their terminating marriage for the sake of their child. The end of their marriage is said to be civil between the two of them.
Marriage ends after 17 years
TMZ reports that the host of "Lopez Tonight", George Lopez and his wife, Ann Lopez, have decided that 17 years of marriage is enough. Â The well-known married couple announced plans of their divorce, recently.
The marriage of George Lopez and Ann Lopez may end in divorce, but the two will always share a close bond with one another, literally.
According to ET, the life of George Lopez was saved by his wife in 2005. Â The comedian suffers from a genetic condition involving the proper filtering of his kidneys. Â However, as a display of her love and devotion to her husband, Ann Lopez donated a kidney to George Lopez that spared his life. Â To this day, George is humbled by the act, as he has made mention of it several times in his comedy monologues.
A partnership beyond the Lopez divorce
Although George Lopez is ending his marriage with his wife of 17 years, the couple remain committed to doing the right thing for the sake of their business, philanthropy, and their kid.
George Lopez had one child, a 15-year old, during his marriage to Ann. Â They remain devoted to keeping things friendly, as it is the right thing to do for their child.
The Lopez marriage may be ending, but George and Ann have plans to continue the non-profit work they've set in motion through their charity, the Lopez Foundation.
