St. Louis rapper Nelly opened up to MTV news about the two cancer deaths in his family, the deaths that almost caused him to end his music career.
The "Country Grammer" rapper said he lost his sister Jackie Donahue, due to leukaemia, and he lost his grandfather to cancer six months later. Nelly said he almost left the music industry because he couldn't cope with the loss of his sister and grandfather.
"I lost my sister in 05 and almost didn't make it back. I lost my sister and six months later I lost my grandfather," Nelly said.
Nelly also said they tried so much to find a donor for his sister. He expressed the heartache and how painful it was seeing his family ailing.
"To have so much, so much money, or much things that you can basically buy your way out of it, but this thing here you can't get a grasp on it for nothing in the world," Nelly told MTV.
That explains why Nelly just disappeared from the hip hop scene, but it was for a good reason. Hopefully now he can get back in the studio and prepare for a new album! We miss you Nelly!
