While doing research for her new book, Love, Lust, and Faking It, in the midst of her break-up with comedian and actor Jim Carrey after five years together, Jenny McCarthy figured something out - she'd been faking it. The blonde bombshell and former playboy model, Singled Out host, and bestselling author realized at 37 that she was going about love all wrong, but not this time around with new beau, Jason Toohey.
Finding Herself, Love, and Oprah
For Jenny McCarthy, this appears to be her year, even though she's split from long-time love, Jim Carrey, which many saw as a match made in heaven. But according to McCarthy, that heaven was a fake one, and it was her fault. "I was a girl who pretended. I would say I liked things when I didn't," McCarthy confesses. "I knew if I wanted to grow, I needed to make myself happy before I could begin to have an equal relationship with another man."
On her road to look within herself and stop blaming Carrey, McCarthy found the self-actualization and power to stop pretending and start being herself. And with new boyfriend, Jason Toohey, 35, a fitness model and performer in Las Vegas, it can come down to something as simple as dinner. "If he wants to go out and I want to stay in and watch Dancing with the Stars, I tell him so." For Jason, she says she put it all out on the line and he respected that. From here, only time will tell where their relationship will go, but McCarthy is done faking it. Her books are bestsellers and her honesty is refreshing. She's preparing a show for Oprah's Harpo Studios, which is just another step in the direction of making herself happy in a year that brought her new love, understanding, and professional success.
