She may seem to have it all: She's one of America's most beloved pop stars, touring with (and dating) the Jonas Brothers, and has even made a name for herself in acting, starring in Disney's "Camp Rock" movies and having made a guest appearance on Grey's Anatomy earlier this year. But, despite all of this, Demi Lovato has reportedly left the Jonas Brothers tour to check into a rehabilitation facility for "physical and emotional issues."
So what's been going on with the 18-year-old starlet? An anonymous source close to the family has said that Lovato is seeking treatment for both an eating disorder and cutting herself - both serious, and potentially deadly - issues. According to the source, Lovato has dealt with both issues in the past.
Lest anyone think that a life in the spotlight is easy - and it's easy to see only the advantages associated - this is a clear wake-up call that fame and fortune is not just fun and games. There is tremendous pressure involved: to be thin, to be social, to produce non-stop hits, to tour, and so on.
It's extremely sad to see Lovato suffering from the weight of her career. Hopefully she'll be back in a good place soon!
