Reality show star, Kate Gosselin and her adorable octobrood are headed for Alaska, and the lucky world will get to scrutinize every second of their trip. On Sunday, November 7th, the TLC reality show Kate Plus 8 will return to television with an hour long special episode entitled (rather unimaginatively) "Kate Plus 8: Alaska, Here We Come." Fans of America's second most controversial single mom will be able to tag along (in spirit anyway) with her and her offspring as they gawk at "snow-covered mountains (and) bright-white glaciers." They'll also take a whale sighting boat trip, travel by Iditarod dog sled, and pan for gold. And for the high point of their journey, they'll encounter the most famous (if not the most impressive) of all the nothernmost state's natural wonders i.e. Sarah Palin. Or will they?
TLC should have called the special "Mama Gosselin Meets Mama Grizzly.". Or is it the other way around?
Therein lies a quandary to be sure. According to Radar Online, "Kate and the kids even met up with Sarah Palin while in Alaska, sure to be featured on a future episode." Fair enough. But according to the National TV Examiner, it is Gosselin and her children who will appear in an episode of Palin's new TLC reality show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska" which will premiere later this month. Curiouser and curiouser. Two reality shows with Alaska settings (one temporary; one permanent) featuring two of the most admired and also most reviled women in the country.
Perhaps TLC could combine the two shows into one big extravaganza called "Alaska:: Media Mamas Meet."Â Just a suggestion.
