Lindsay Lohan has reached a milestone in her rehab treatment program. The actress has now been sober for 100 days. This is certainly progress for the girl who couldn't stay sober for 24 hours prior to entering the Betty Ford rehab facility.
According to RadarOnline, Lindsay Lohan has made it an entire 100 days without what those in the rehab field call a "dirty" drug test. This means her urine and/or blood tests have not been positive for either drugs or alcohol. This is quite an achievement, and one that Lohan should be very proud of. However, can she maintain this kind of diligence once she's back on the outside?
It could happen. Lindsay Lohan has been earning privileges at the Betty Ford Center, which are a part of her recovery program. Some of the privileges she has earned include leaving on day trips and driving. She seems to be taking her sobriety seriously this time, unlike her first trip to rehab that ended in disaster.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox sentenced Lindsay Lohan to the Betty Ford Center, which is located in Rancho Mirage, California, until January 3. She has almost reached the end of her sentence there and will soon be facing the real world on the outside.
Once drug and alcohol abusers get back to the outside world, relapses are not uncommon. Hopefully this won't be the case for Lohan, and she will continue with whatever outpatient groups and counseling sessions she is set up for when she leaves rehab. These appointments and group meetings are key to staying sober in a world that is overrun with glamorized notions of abusing drugs and alcohol.
Congratulations are in order to Lindsay Lohan for achieving 100 days of sobriety. While Lindsay certainly isn't revered by a huge following these days, it's time that people who want to see her succeed and remain sober get behind this young woman and cheer her on.
