It appears in recent breaking news that the Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal dating days are now over. The couple appears to have split up, according to a recent source reporting "they're over" as of just last month.
The exclusive report at PEOPLE is reporting that both Swift and Gyllenhaal spent their birthdays and the holidays apart from one another. Taylor (picture via Wikipedia) apparently spent her New Year's at a party in Nashville by herself, while Jake was at New York's recent closing party for Broadway show "Fela!" He was seen having a nice dinner out with another lady, his mother, during his trip, as well.
As for the Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal public appearances, they were last spotted together back on December 9th. There's no reason given for their split yet.
The worst part of this might be what's coming for Jake Gyllenhaal. Taylor Swift has made a habit of recording songs about her former flames including one of the Jonas Brothers, John Maher and Taylor Lautner. If a song called "Brokeback Heart on the Mountain" or "Prince of Persia Split My Heart in Two" shows up on a future Swift album, everyone will know who she's referring to.
