Is Snooki Abandoning Her Moniker?

Is Snooki abandoning her moniker? The Jersey Shore star says she's getting a bit tired of the her nickname and is thinking about going back to just plain Nicole instead.

According to a report from MSN, this positively riveting news is absolutely true. The reality TV star and author is getting tired of being called "Snooki," and says she misses being called by her given name.

"I miss my real name. I miss people calling me Nicole," the Jersey Shore star says.

Maybe Polizzi should have tried coming up with a better nickname to begin with. Hers sounds like a sleazy waitress in a Manhattan diner back in the 1950's. Oh well, maybe that explains it. Jersey Shore characters don't typically have high aspirations.

She uses both her nickname and her given name on the cover of her new book A Shore Thing. The author is proudly listed as Nicole Snooki Polizzi on this fine example of high quality literature. The novel, however, is rather conspicuously absent from both the New York Times Best Sellers List and the Amazon.com Top 100.

Maybe a change in name will send Snooki's next book soaring to the top of one or both of these coveted book-selling lists. Maybe a change in career would make the "guidette" a far more viable author. But if Snooki weren't on The Jersey Shore, what exactly would she do? Well, she could go back to school and learn how to read!
