WWE Divas wrestler Maryse may have just started the latest celebrity Twitter war with "Jersey Shore" star Snooki. Then again, maybe this is a ploy by Vince McMahon and the WWE to bring the reality star to Wrestlemania 27. Or quite simply, it's a case of TV celebrity jealousy spilling over to a Twitter rant.
Maryse Ouellet is currently a diva wrestler on the Monday Night Raw television show. She also portrays the girlfriend of wrestler Ted Dibiase and appears at various Pay-Per-View events with him at ringside. Now, she appears to be taking shots at reality TV stars on Twitter.
In a recent Tweet on Maryse's Twitter profile, she has scoffed at the reality television star as a bestselling author. Maryse tweeted to her 100,806 followers on Saturday evening:
Snooki is a ny time bestseller. Common. She's a fat midget...
This Tweet came not long after Maryse was asking her Twitter followers for advice on which iTunes songs to buy. Maryse is a former WWE Divas champion, so obviously she's not to be taken lightly. However, Nicole Polizzi has also shown she can "throw her weight around," based on what she's done on and off the "Jersey Shore" television show. Â
Of course, this very well could just be a case of major jealousy. Hollywood News reports that Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is, in fact, a bestseller. Her book, "A Shore Thing," is currently at #24 on the NY Times Bestseller list. This is her first attempt at a book, and clearly the success of her controversial television show, along with her off-air legal issues, has helped propel the title. Add to this is that Polizzi has over one million followers on Twitter, and Maryse may be slightly jealous of the reality star's success. However, if the two were side-by-side the gorgeous blond, toned wrestler Maryse might be most male suitors' choice for their date.
Ironically, WWE's main competitor, TNA wrestling, brought in a character named "Cookie" who is portrayed by Becky Bayless and is a spoof on the "Jersey Shore" cast member.
Maybe World Wrestling Entertainment is looking to bring the real Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi to it's Wrestlemania 27 event in Atlanta, Georgia?
It wouldn't be the first time the WWE has tried to use controversy to bring in more viewers. In the past, they've brought Donald Trump on the show and even had a mock version of Barack Obama in a segment with Bill and Hilary Clinton.
The opportunity to get onto ESPN or celeb gossip circuits has never been something WWE has shied away from in the past.
Either way, the tweet has now been sent, and the trap is set. Is Maryse speaking the truth or is she just jealous of another TV star? Will "Jersey Shore" star Snooki take the bait and respond, or will this all just fade into Twitter oblivion?
