Miley Cyrus' father, Billy Ray Cyrus, is claiming that he never made any money off of exploiting his daughter. During his controversial GQ interview, in which he claims the Disney series "Hannah Montana" ruined his family, Billy Ray opened up about financial matters.
"For the record, to set it straight, I want to tell you, IÂ’ve never made a dime off of Miley," Said Cyrus. "You got a lot of people have made percentages off of her. IÂ’m proud to say to this day IÂ’ve never made one commissioned dollar, or dime, off of my daughter."
While that may be true, it was Miley Cyrus' star power and talent that drove "Hannah Montana" to be one of Disney Channel's top shows. A show that Billy Ray Cyrus also starred in.
In addition to "Hannah Montana," and the two feature films it spawned, Billy Ray and Miley also recorded a popular duet together, which they performed on such shows as "Dancing With The Stars." So, it seems that while Billy Ray wasn't commissioning Miley's money, he was benefiting from her success.
Miley is reportedly furious at her father for the interview, and the two are allegedly not on speaking terms at this time.
Is it just coincidence that Billy Ray Cyrus is choosing now, when "Hannah Montana" is over, to come out with these very personal and private allegations against Miley? He wasn't speaking up when the cash was rolling in.
