Roger Clinton, brother of former President Bill Clinton, is in big tax trouble. He owes both the state of California and the IRS rather hefty sums of money.
According to a report from RadarOnline, Clinton is to brother Bill what Billy Carter was to former President Jimmy Carter. While there is probably some modicum of brotherly love involved, the sibling has been a bit of a family embarrassment.
Roger Clinton did come out from under some sort of rock to attend niece Chelsea Clinton's wedding last summer, but hasn't been seen in the limelight much aside from that.
It is estimated that Roger Clinton owes about $90,000 that has been placed in a lien against his home in California. He owes about $10K in previous liens as well. The IRS has filed a lien against the property for just over $57,000.
Even worse, Clinton was in arrears for child support payments for his daughter Macy a little more than a year ago. At one point he owed more than $30,000. It was reported at the time that Macy, a full time student and part time worker, had to file for food stamps in order to survive.
What is wrong with people? Why can't they own up to their responsibilities and not just pay their bills, but learn to live within their means? Roger Clinton has had alcohol issues in the past as well as scuffles with the law, and it's likely that these large sums of money he owes may have resulted from an exacerbation of one of these issues.
Nothing has been said from the Bill and Hillary Clinton camp regarding brother Roger, but it's likely that he's thought of as a bit of a family embarrassment. Will brother Bill bail Roger Clinton out? That remains to be seen.
