Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have been busy outfitting their twins with the best things that money can buy, and it seems that money is clearly no object! The songbird couple reportedly has spent close to a million dollars on various baby goods, and the twins have yet to make their debut!
According to Hollybaby, the couple has spent thousands on cribs, clothing, and music systems for their son and daughter. Some of the more extravagant items include $20,000 cribs and a $150,000 wardrobe filled with designer clothing.
This is a point wherein the how-much-is-too-much debate should come in. Would the children really mind if they had a $100 crib from Walmart instead? The answer here, of course, is no. They won't even know the difference. When they get older and want to express themselves, then maybe let them have the fancier things. Right now, all the extravagance is clearly for the parents' pleasure.
The star told Life & Style that she was wanting gender neutral colors, so as not to impose an identity on the children. Someone should probably tell her that being spoiled before being born is also imposing identities on her children, maybe even more so than them wearing a frilly pink dress would.
Do you agree that spending so much on a nursery and clothing that the children will wear only a few times each is a good idea? Wouldn't it make more sense to go all out, when they are older and will each use things longer than a few months? Weigh in below.
