Michelle Obama has a new stylist. Although the First Lady has received much praise in the press for her sense of style, apparently it was time to bring in somebody new especially after the hurtful comments Rush Limbaugh made earlier this week.
Barack Obama’s wife ends up rocking nearly everything she wears (unlike her husband’s unfortunate mom jeans incident last year). However, even the First Lady could use a hand. Michelle Obama’s stylist is Meredith Koop, a 29-year-old graduate of Vanderbilt University. Her former stylist was Ikram Goldman. Koop is actually Goldman’s protégé and she has taken over the role full-time now.
It appears as if Koop is actually in the White House in a role that is greater than simply attending to the First LadyÂ’s wardrobe. However, for her clothing duties the White House said KoopÂ’s "responsibilities include advising the first lady on her wardrobe and acting on her behalf in arranging for purchases, including considering the best offered price, and buying on discount if discounts are available."
That is exciting! While Michelle Obama didnÂ’t appear to have any style issues, it will be interesting to see what a fresh eye and perspective Koop may bring to the role. It is certainly good to hear that the First Family is looking for discounts and bargains along with the rest of the U.S.
