In Charlie Sheen's crusade to prove he's clean and off drugs, he's allowed Radar Online to personally test him for drugs - twice. However, do the results really prove anything at all?
The former Two and a Half Men star is so determined to prove himself as a clean and sober man that he invited Radar Online into his home to test both his blood and urine for drug traces.
Sheen thanked RadarOnline.com for its "legendary" and "b*tching" challenge but joked, as he was caught on camera in the bathroom before providing a urine sample: "This is a career high point -- from Platoon to this -- who's winning now!"
The 45-year-old actor scored negative on his blood test, which was conducted by a court-certified toxicology laboratory, for the following panel of drugs: amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine metabolite, methadone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene and ethyl alcohol.
The urine sample also came back clean for amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine metabolite, methadone, opiates, phencyclidine and propoxyphene.
Each test was done fully in front of lab technicians, so as to assure that there was no compromising the test's accuracy.
Sheen had promised he'd pass a drug test, and he did indeed pass both tests with flying colors, but what exactly does this prove to anyone? Does it prove he's clean and sober? Not really. Does it prove he can work as a professional again? Not really. So, what's the sense in the tests other than to give him a temporary pat on the back?
Sheen knew the tests were coming, and cocaine is only detectable in these tests for one to three days after using the drug. It's not hard to curb your binges on a temporary scale just to pass a test. Not hard at all - even for him. So, passing the test doesn't prove he's clean for the long haul, but it's a start.
It also proves that Sheen is a hot head and out of control even when he's not high or sober. This alone is a terrifying thought and cannot bode well for his future as an actor. All those rants he's been on lately were making many second guess his mental stability. If they were made while sober, then he's even more far gone than most thought.
What about you? Do these tests really prove much at all to you? Or are you not fully convinced that he's completely clean as he claims? Weigh in below.
