His real name is William Drayton Jr., but many are now referring to him as the boss who fries his workerÂ’s paychecks and pockets the crumbs.
After his successful run on VH1 with his "Flava of Love" series, the Flavor Flav bouncing checks rumors are hard to believe. Not only that, the eccentric rapper has a long career as a co-frontman with the group "Public Enemy." Remember, "Fight the Power?"
According to several workers of his newly-opened fried chicken joint, Flavor Flav's Chicken (FFC), in Clinton, Iowa their payroll checks are not being honored at local banks.
Kim Kostka and Kelly Butler came forward on local television network WQAD, and said that Nick Cimino, the owner of the Clinton FFC, should make good on their three weeks of salary because Flavor Flav's checks are bouncing.
"My check was only $150 and they couldn't even cash it," Butler told the station.
The ladies both have gone to various banks in the area to cash the payroll checks, but to no avail. After all attempts failed, they paid a visit to Freedom Bank, the holder of the account, and got an obligatory letter saying that the funds were not available.
Flav and Cimino denied the allegations, citing that they are just disgruntled employees. Reportedly, over a dozen workers have been fired, and are being fingered for either being "jealous” of Flav or upset at being fired.
Cimino also said the lack of funds was the result of a "glitch,” while Flav said that the workers are "paid in full."
Is Flavor Flav bouncing his checks? It all sounds a bit fishy ("chickeny" just doesn't fit), especially about the allegations that minimum wage workers are "jealous" of their boss.
Perhaps the "glitch" thing is a better response. Even then, it sounds like the rubber stamp response celebs give (irreconcilable differences) when heading towards splitsville.
