Emily Maynard and The Bachelor Brad Womack are officially over, or at least their engagement is, and Maynard has opened up to OK! Magazine about why she returned the sparkling Neil Lane diamond ring (all $90,000 of it!) to Womack.
It has been no secret that Maynard wasn't quite ready to walk down the aisle and marry Womack, especially since she didn't want to relocate to Austin. "She wasn't going to uproot her daughter, Ricki, when she was still unsure of the relationship," revealed a source. "It hasn't been the fairytale everyone thought."
Indeed, The Bachelor almost never is. Contestants always seem to end up kissing frogs, instead of finding their true prince! Aside from a few couples (notably Trista and Ryan and, more recently, Ali and Roberto), who have made it work, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette outcomes generally do not yield "I do's."
Emily Maynard and Brad Womack certainly made for a cute couple on the hit ABC show, and Maynard's sweet charm made her an audience favorite. But, it looks like the shine of the spotlight, and those constant clashes with Womack, were just too much for this Southern belle. Emily Maynard may have discovered she signed up for way more than she bargained for and now she's finally ready to back out completely.
"She doesn't want to look back on all of this and think she did it just for fame. She just couldn't pretend anymore," confirmed an insider, of Emily Maynard, the reason behind the split and why she handed the ring back over to Brad. There is probably more to this love-lost story. Nevertheless, it looks like the second time was not the charm for The Bachelor Brad Womack.
