Justin Bieber has often spoken out against all forms of teen bullying and its deleterious effects on the psyches and lives of the kids who are bullied. On May 2, the Never Say Never star invited the most famous victim of teen/school bullying in the world to join him onstage at the first Melbourne concert of his ongoing My World Tour. The boy's name is Casey Heynes.
For those who may have spent the past three months hibernating, Casey Heynes is the 15-year-old Australian student who had been regularly and relentlessly bullied in his school. After enduring months of physical and psychological torture in silence, Casey snapped. When a bully assaulted him for the umpteenth time, Casey grabbed the jerk and body slammed him. After which, the bully took off like the coward he obviously was and had been all along. Someone taped the incident and posted it on YouTube. The video immediately went viral, and Casey became an overnight Internet sensation. Sort of like Rebecca Black. But much more important.
Upon his arrival in Melbourne, Justin Bieber went out of his way to find and meet Casey Heynes. Referring to Heynes as "Casey, the punisher," the teen idol Tweeted before the show:
this is…a kid who stood up for himself against bullying. a real life hero... 2nite we tracked down Casey and his family and flew him to the show. Thank you Casey. #stopbullying –
Kudos to Justin Bieber for never missing an opportunity to speak out against teen bullying which has become a global epidemic. And kudos to Casey Heynes for kicking that bully's a**!
