The Supernatural fans exploded on Twitter earlier today when it appeared that Jared Padalecki had joined the social networking site, but with all the fakes out there, everyone was wary of believing it. Luckily there was a fan convention today, and he confirmed it.

Supernatural star on Twitter confirmed!

DSCF1214This weekend is the Salute to Supernatural convention in Nashville, and at the breakfast session, Jared confirmed that he has joined Twitter. His twitter is @jarpad because so many other combinations were already taken by fakes. He already has 15,000 followers (and counting) and has sent out a few tweets already, including "Hey guys, it's really me. I'm in Nash-Vegas right now about to see our Supernatural family. I'll confirm twitter with them in person." And Jared Padalecki did confirm it (see clip below from a fan in attendance). At the end of the clip, Jensen also tells him to tweet "something right now," and one of his tweets is just that.

In fact, his first picture on Twitter is of Supernatural's Jensen Ackles, which he took during the breakfast session. The picture shows Jensen in front of those in attendance, and that's also certainly enough to confirm that this is really Jared. He has tweeted a few other things, including, "Haha. Someone just wrote "if u give a moose a twitter"... And, does what happens in Nashvegas STAY in Nashvegas?..." and has tweeted a picture of himself with a moose head. He has also tweeted Supernatural costar Sebastian Roche (whose character Balthazar was killed by Castiel in the season 6 finale, "The Man Who Knew Too Much"), "@sebroche hey srbastiani I finally got one... Figured you'd be proud :) see u soon brother! -Padalecki" Jared Padalecki has even trended worldwide because of him joining Twitter. Misha Collins and Jim Beaver are both already on Twitter (as are a number of Supernatural guest stars), but Jensen Ackles has yet to get one. This cast is famous for their pranks on set, and Jared and Misha's pranks on one another have become well known among the fans; could a prank war on Twitter break out next between these two?
