Brooke Mueller appears to be off the wagon yet again, and this time she's caught the attention of Celebrity Rehab's Dr. Drew Pinsky. Dr. Drew is very concerned about Mueller, fearing the new method she has chosen to try to control her addiction.
According to a report from RadarOnline, Mueller--one of Charlie Sheen's ex-wives--says she plans to check herself into a rehab center in Mexico that features a drug that helps addicts control their addictions. However, Dr. Drew doesn't have faith in that drug called ibogaine.
"In my experience people, after ibogaine, stop opiates for three to six months and then they begin again," Dr. Drew says.
"I have had this experience with dozens of patients, but most disturbingly these patients had persistent mood and personality changes," the Celebrity Rehab star adds.
Brooke Mueller only recently finished a 45-day rehab stint in the U.S. but fell off the wagon within days of its completion. It was an outpatient program--could it be she requires the more stringent aspects of an inpatient rehab facility? If she were to suffer the 'persistent mood and personality changes' that Dr. Drew describes, she could find herself in a far worse place than she has been already.
"Brooke is absolutely desperate. She feels completely powerless to her addiction. Brooke feels that going to get treatment is Mexico is her only option. Brooke wants to be sober, but her addiction just too strong right now," a source close to Brooke Mueller says.
That same source says doctors recommend that Mueller check herself in to a year-long drug rehab facility, but she is adamant that she doesn't want to go that route. Of course she doesn't want to be away from her children for that length of time, but what is the alternative? If she keeps going the way she is, she'll be dead, and then her kids won't have a mother.
What do you think Brooke Mueller will do? Will she check herself in to a rehab here in the U.S. or continue with her plan to go to Mexico? Hopefully her family members and friends are doing their best to intervene, before it is simply too late for anything to help her at all.
