The Lauren Bush wedding is this weekend. The granddaughter of President H.W. Bush will marry David Lauren, the son of fashion designer Ralph Lauren. Once again, the term America royal wedding is flying in the wake of the nuptials joining two powerful families.
Interestingly, the bride's new name will be Lauren Lauren. That is different. She has said she will keep the Bush as well. "I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way."
While, President Bush the elder will not attend his granddaughter's wedding at the Colorado Telluride ranch (owned by Ralph Lauren) due to health concerns (how sad that he is in such poor health), the younger may show up to give his well wishes to his niece.
In a bit of an unusual sounding twist, the wedding will have teepees draped with American flags and a saloon. The dress code is black tie with a "western twist" (whatever that means). The wedding will take place the day before Labor Day on Sunday. Nearly 200 guests will attend the Lauren Bush wedding including Rick and Kathy Hilton, Jay McInerny and Cynthia Rowley.
The word is, the bride will wear Ralph Lauren (are you surprised?). Many happy wishes to the couple. Hopefully their Labor Day weekend wedding is the beginning of a long, successful marriage.
