Wow! It is being claimed that Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries threw the top tiers of their wedding cake into the garbage! Typically, it is tradition for the bride and groom to save the very top tiers of the cake for a later celebration, such as their first wedding anniversary or the birth of their first child. If this is true, do you suppose that throwing away the cake is at all symbolic of their marriage - that it could be doomed for the trash?
The black and white ten-tiered chocolate and vanilla wedding cake was made by Hansen's and its estimated worth was up to US $20,000. Who spends $20,000 on a wedding cake only to throw it in the trash? Apparently, Kim Kardashian. Most people, though, are lucky if their entire wedding amounts to $20K, let alone the cake alone!
A worker who helped clean up following Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' wedding reception on August 20 said, "I was shocked when I found it. There it was, one of the highest-priced cakes at a wedding ever, removed from all its glory and discarded as just another piece of trash. I couldn't help but shake my head and laugh."
Instead of throwing it away, if Kim Kardashian didn't want to keep the top tiers of her wedding cake, why didn't she have the leftover dessert sent to a nearby shelter?
According to David Tutera, celebrity wedding planner, "Ninety-nine percent of brides and grooms do keep their top tiers. The cake will certainly bring back memories of what you had. The cost of it doesn't matter - they threw away a tradition."
