Will the saga of Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston never end? Levi has stated in his upcoming book that Bristol intended to get pregnant when the two were teens. Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs will be released on September 20, and it's filled with enthralling tidbits like this one.
According to Yahoo News, Johnston claims that Bristol was angry when she learned that her mother, Sarah Palin, was pregnant with son Trig, and she told Levi, "let's get pregnant."
In her own book, Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far, released this past June, Bristol claims she both lost her virginity to and became pregnant by Levi Johnston after a night of camping and getting drunk on wine coolers.
So who's telling the truth? Johnston claims that Bristol's entire camping scenario is askew--saying that the two were long since sexually active by then. He says Bristol wanted to buy some alcohol, but he was against it because she had a tendency to "lose her judgement" when drinking.
Johnston says it was Todd Palin who became angry when he and Bristol told her family about their pregnancy. He says Sarah Palin laughed at first--thinking it was a joke. Once she realized that daughter Bristol was truly pregnant, she devised a scheme for adopting their baby and raising it as her own.
Sarah Palin wrote her own book describing the saga of Levi and Bristol. In America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag she calls Johnston's behavior "disgusting" as he exploited what he perceived to be his "sudden fame" once Sarah was chosen by John McCain to be his 2008 candidate for vice president. She also noted the number of times Levi Johnston "disgraced himself" by criticizing the Palin family.
So what do you think? You've got three books, three people, and three completely different scenarios. Of course, despite those scenarios, the end result was the same. Bristol Palin did become pregnant by Levi Johnston and she is now raising their little boy named Tripp.
Who do you think is lying? Given the histories of these three, it's most likely Levi. Bristol has made a pretty decent life for herself. She's now raising Tripp in L.A. and starring in a reality TV show. She also was a very viable contestant on Dancing With the Stars. Sarah Palin likely stands to lose the most by lying. She will undoubtedly throw her hat into the 2012 presidential ring any moment now, so it really doesn't stand to reason that she'd lie about something that trivial.
Most likely, it's Levi Johnston who is stretching the many "truths" he exposed in his upcoming book. He's hanging on by a thread at this point to what he perceives as his celebrity status.
Did Bristol Palin get pregnant on purpose? Who knows? Who cares? Levi is barking up an old brittle tree, and the cat he's pursuing is very close to dead.
