Robert Pattinson, who owes much of his formidable fame factor, his hunky heart-throb status, and his equally popular girlfriend Kristen Stewart to The Twilight Saga, may have initially discounted the vampire series as no big deal, at least according to Pattinson's Bel Ami co-star Natalia Tena. She plays the risqué role of a prostitute in the film that also stars a fierce female cast including Christina Ricci, Kristin Scott-Thomas, and Uma Thurman.
Tena, 26, who happens to have known Pattinson since their late teenage years, originally met him on a photo shoot for emerging British actors. Coincidentally, like R-Patz, she herself has a bit of experience with the fantasy genre, scoring a role in 2007's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and all subsequent Harry Potter flicks. But, in a recent interview, she also talked Twilight and revealed some insider info about her famous vampire-playing friend.
"We had this summer of being really close," Tena said about Robert Pattinson. "Then I remember Robert taking me out a few months later. He was like, 'I'm just saying goodbye because I'm going to America for a few months to do some vampire thing.' I said, 'Cool, I'll see you when you get back.'"
Little did either Tena or Pattinson know that the so-called "some vampire thing" would really be box office gold, kick-starting quite the acting career for Robert Pattinson and his off-screen and on-screen Twilight love interest, Kristen Stewart.
Well, hindsight is always 20-20. And now with several Twilight movies behind him, countless Twi-hard fans the world over, considerable bank, and the wildly anticipated Breaking Dawn première ahead in November, Edward Cullen—ahem, Robert Pattinson—is no doubt singing a very different tune about his "vampire thing."
