It seemed Simon Cowell might have found the perfect way to win back Cheryl after it was reported that Micheal McIntyre has left his judging career--Simon seemed eager to offer the position to Cheryl. Less than 24 hours later, Cheryl has already snubbed the offer, showing that all isn't forgiven just yet!
Micheal replaced Simon on the show for the last series, and was expected to continue alongside fellow judges David Hasselhoff and Amanda Holden, but has instead decided to leave his judging position and return to comedy. The move was said to pave the way for a new judging trio, which was very likely to include Cheryl Cole.
The Girls Aloud singer has made no secret of her desire to judge on talent shows, after becoming famous herself through one, and was keen to judge on Simon's US X-Factor. Simon claimed Cheryl became 'lost' in America, however, and missed her celebrity status here. He believed it was in everyone's best interests to replace her with ex-pussycat doll and Lewis Hamilton's girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, who has been much more popular with US audiences.
When questioned about whether Cheryl would take Micheal's place, Simon revealed that she had been asked to do the show previously, but had got cold feet just a day before filming began.
So it will come as a shock to the music mogul to hear a source claim that Cheryl is not interested, and wants Simon to stop using her to gain publicity.
"There is absolutely no chance in hell that Cheryl will even consider doing Britain's Got Talent. She's not even willing to discuss it. She's turned it down before. Simon knows that by mentioning her he will get publicity for his shows. She's fed up. Cheryl's walked away from it all and moved forward. Simon keeps dragging it up and her name."
The source went on to state that Cheryl has decided the X-Factor is 'history' to her now, and was focusing on her music career - both as a solo artist, and with her girl band Girls Aloud.
It comes as a bitter blow to Simon, who is now left with a judging crisis. He is reported to have sacked David Hasselhoff, who was thought to be unpopular with the show's audience, and is now left with Amanda Holden - the only remaining member of the original judging panel.
Amanda's own commitment to the program might come under strain due to her pregnancy, however--Amanda suffered a miscarriage late into her pregnancy earlier this year, and has cut short her broadway appearances to reduce stress on her body.
So, who should Simon choose to judge the show? He's picked a winning combination for the new series of the UK X-Factor, combining Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh with Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos, and has even offered them a large pay increase to remain judges for the next series.
His choice of new judge could have a big effect on both the popularity and the future of the series, which has given us some amazing talent!
