Amy Winehouse didn't care about fame. At least, according to a new report from her goddaughter, she didn't.
15-year-old Dionne Bromfield, who is also a jazz singer, says that her godmother, Amy Winehouse, was more intent on launching Bromfield's career rather than her own.
Bromfield said, "If I didn't have Amy I wouldn't be where I am today. Amy never tried to take anything from me. The only gig she did with me was 'Strictly Come Dancing'. She wanted the spotlight to be on me, she didn't want it on her."
Did Amy Winehouse care about fame? The troubled star suffered from drug and alcohol abuse which often put her professional career on hold. Despite everything, she was extremely talented and taken too soon from the world. Her last recording was with the legendary Tony Bennet. Bennet recently said that Winehouse knew she was in trouble.
Amy didn't seem to have a craving for the spotlight; She just wanted to sing.
Bromfield does not intend to follow in Winehouse's steps completely. Though she may strive to succeed in music, she says she will not turn to alcohol or drugs. She said, "I'm a clever girl. I know what's right and what's wrong and I've got my mom keeping a close eye on me."
