Megan Fox doesn't think she is cool enough to Tweet. She would rather do Armani ads, ignore her fans, and skip Twitter all together. As one website calls her the 'modern-day Elizabeth Taylor,' is she actually missing out on an opportunity to control her personal brand message using social media?
It is undeniable that Megan Fox has movie-star good looks. Even though Megan was fired from the movie 'Transformers' for some pretty unsavory comparisons between director Michael Bay and Adolph Hitler, the sexy actress is still in demand.
One thing she won't do to help repair her image and connect with her fans is get a Twitter account. She seemingly would rather ignore her fans (and critics) and just do sexy photo shoots, ignoring everything else. The question is two-fold: why make that career decision and is that decision smart?
In a recent interview, the Armani beauty came out and said that she is totally going to avoid social media:
I feel like it has a purpose because there are fans around the world that want to have some sort of interaction with you. But I feel like it is important to still keep some space and some distance. I honestly don't think that I am cool enough or important enough that anyone would care about what I am doing at all hours of the day, like, 'I just had a latte from Starbucks and now I am going to Barneys. Love me some shoes!' Who cares?"
Quite the contrary, plenty of people care. Look at what Megan Fox says in the very first sentence. She understands the "purpose" of social media. Unfortunately, she is willing to sacrifice control of her brand on social media by ignoring it and keeping 'space and distance.'
It sounds more like she is afraid that if she says or does something stupid (read Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus) like the 'Hitler' comments, she will be crucified on social media. It looks like she is not interested in putting in the work to maintain a positive brand on Twitter. It's her right to choose to skip out, but how long will it be until she is left behind? Sexy Armani ads can only go so far in 2011.
