While several media outlets have been claiming that DWTS pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Derek Hough "hate" each other, Derek is telling Access Hollywood otherwise. These two dancers and stars have been involved with Dancing With the Stars for years now, and fans adore both of them. Buzz about problems between them began two weeks ago when Maks got a bit lippy with the judges, and escalated last week after Derek stepped in when Maks got frustrated with his partner, Hope Solo.
In his rehearsal with pro Ricki Lake, Derek said that everything was fine between him and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. "Our relationship is pretty similar to how it's always been." He adds, "We've known each other for many, many years. This is a television show and I understand that people want to see drama where there's not." Maks and Derek Hough were even out on the town together Thursday night and had a good time.
Derek says that his stepping in to dance with Hope Solo after Maksim Chmerkovskiy walked out wasn't a statement of disapproval of Maks. Instead, "I'm just a 'Get on with it' type of person. I don't like taking breaks." Both dance pros knew that their Team Paso dance was key to all three pairs making it through to next week, so clearly Derek wanted to use every moment of available rehearsal time for cleaning up the routine.
Both Derek Hough and his partner, Ricki Lake, along with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Hope Solo made it through to this week's DWTS, and fans wonder if it will be a smooth evening. This season has certainly had plenty of drama and tension, but of course, some moving and impressive moments as well. Who do you think will come out on top this season? Do you believe that all is well between Derek and Maks?
