Recent reports have indicated that MTV's The Hills star Lauren Conrad and Derek Hough of DWTS have split up. The news comes during the same season in which a former nemesis of Lauren, Kristin Cavallari, was voted off Dancing With the Stars.
A news story from Celebrity Cafe says that the three-month-long relationship between Conrad and Hough is now over. Friends described their situation as a "brief fling." It was also recently reported that one of Conrad's friends told Life & Style that Conrad never intended to have much of a long-term relationship with Hough.
Lauren Conrad and Derek Hough formed their relationship after Lauren's split from Kyle Howard. At that time, LC had been seeing Howard for three years, so her fling with Hough was seen as more of a fun rebound, with Conrad keeping her options open. Perez Hilton even said LC may have been looking for a "better offer." Yes, there are other single male celebs out there, more famous than Derek Hough. They will have to decide if Lauren is worthy of their attention and fame.
Of note, Lauren previously had a feud with a recent contestant on Dancing With the Stars, Kristin Cavallari. Cavallari was partnered with Mark Ballas and eliminated just over a month ago during week 3. Ironically, Cavallari also split up with her NFL quarterback fiancé, Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears. It may just be tough times for reality stars of The Hills as they try to find real famous people for lasting love.
