Tamara Tunie of Law & Order: SVU fame was robbed of more than $1 million from her accountant and business manager Joseph Cilibrasi. Tunie plays the role of medical examiner Dr. Melinda Warner on the NBC hit show.
According to a report from Zap2It, Cilibrasi reportedly opened a credit card account in Tunie's name, and proceeded to write multiple checks from her bank account to fund his own trips, invest in his business and treat himself to numerous luxuries.
Cilibrasi pleaded guilty to first degree grand larceny on Thursday, and also admitted to stealing about $75,000 from Michael Stern. Stern is the director of the Kansas City Symphony and is als the son of the late violinist Isaac Stern.
Tamara Tunie must have been livid to learn that someone she trusted with her hard-earned money would steal it from her. Most people develop trusted bonds with their managers and accountants. She must be left feeling extremely violated and a bit shaky about trusting someone else to handle her finances.
Cilibrasi will be sentenced in January, and will likely go to jail for between two and a half and seven and a half years. Will this be enough time for Tamara Tunie to feel any vindication for the crimes he committed against her? Will she be able to trust another professional in that position again?
Tamara Tunie has appeared in more than 200 episodes of Law & Order: SVU, and her role is that of a very confident woman. Hopefully that confidence crosses over into her real life, and she isn't left feeling like a helpless victim.
