A source close to the Two and a Half Men star claims Ashton made an errant post on Twitter protesting the firing of Penn State coach, Joe Paterno. When he wrote the message, he was unaware of the child molestation charges against Paterno's assistant coach. A close friend defends Ashton by saying he's so inundated with work and trying to fix his damaged marriage, that he isn't fully aware of what's going on at times. This was especially true for the Paterno scandal.
"He's been in a bubble," the source says. "He works 12-hour days, is trying to save his marriage and is involved in the management of close to a dozen Internet companies, so he didn't really know what he had done until it was too late. He feels terrible," a source said.
