Demi Lovato opened up to Glamour magazine about the self-harming scars she inflicted upon herself during the low points in her life. Within the copy the starlet also discusses when she started cutting herself, and how she is looking for a man who can deal with her career and the extra emotional baggage she now carries because of her time in the spotlight and in recovery.
The Glamour article features a photoshoot with Demi Lovato that also shows off the tattoos that she received to help cover the scars she inflicted on herself through cutting from the age of 11. When Glamour asked her if the rumors that she had tattoos were true, the star answered:
I think scars are like battle wounds—beautiful, in a way. They show what you've been through and how strong you are for coming out of it. My tattoos say "Stay strong." "Stay" on one [wrist] and "strong" on the other. Now I'm able to look at them and be thankful for being alive. I think that I've been blessed over the past year to be able to start over.
The accompanying images make both the scar and the "Stay" tattoo highly visible against Demi Lovato's otherwise flawless skin.
It really seems like the former Disney star has gotten into the driver's seat to take over her personal health situations and fight her self-harm issues. What do you think of the tattoos and the interview? Honest? Too honest?
