Demi Lovato recently returned to the rehab center where she received treatment last year, but this time she went there to help others rather than to receive help herself.
Demi has done something that not many stars do after going to rehab—she's been very open about her experience and the troubles that landed her there, and now she's trying to turn her own problems into a teachable moment for all the girls that look up to her.
Demi went to rehab last year after she punched one of her backup dancers, and after she left the center, she started to open up about the issues that led to that violent moment. Demi Lovato admitted that she used to cut herself as a way to deal with the pressure to be perfect. The starlet also suffers from bipolar disorder and had to get treatment for eating disorders.
But now Selena Gomez's BFF is back on her feet and better than ever—Demi has embraced her curves instead of struggling to be a size 0, and she's covered up the scars on her wrists with tattoos that read "Stay Strong." She might have needed to look down at them for strength when she went back to Timberline Knolls.
Here's what Demi Lovato tweeted about her return: "Wow what an inspiring day... Many tears were shed and many memories were brought back at Timberline Knolls today." She went on to clarify why she was back at the center with this message: "Today I went back to the treatment center I went to last year, to speak to the beautiful women fighting their inner demons.. was so honored To be able to share my story and let them know that it gets easier. Life is beautiful.... You are worthy of it."
Demi also asked her fans to say a prayer for everyone struggling with eating disorders, self harm, mood disorders, and substance abuse.
It's great that Demi Lovato is using such a horrible time in her life to help others. Since she quickly got her career back on track after leaving rehab, she could have left that chapter in her life behind and never looked back. She could refuse to talk about what she went through and why she went there in the first place, but instead she continues to open up about her struggles in the hopes that she can help others currently going through the same thing she did.
And who better to inspire those suffering than someone like Demi who has gone through it all and came back better than ever?
